OLBS Parish Breakfast 2/12/17Upcoming Event: Parish Breakfast

Join us for our next Parish Breakfast Sunday, February 12 after the 8:30AM and 10:30AM Masses! Enjoy breakfast sandwiches, potatoes, coffee, and juice in our Parish Social Hall while catching up with fellow parishioners. You’re free to bring a dish to share as well! This event is open to all and free to attend, but free will donations will be accepted. RSVP to our Facebook event if you’re interested!

 

Save the Date: OLBS Homecoming

Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament is welcoming you home! On Sunday, May 7, 2017, the parish is hosting a homecoming for all former parishioners, students of OLBS School, and friends of the parish. The event will include guided tours, a musical concert featuring our magnificent 1,608-pipe organ, and a reception in the parish social hall following the concert. Tickets must be purchased prior to the event and are $15/person, $12/seniors. There will not be any ticket sales at the door.  Reserve your tickets by contacting the parish office at 717-232-1014, or by emailing OLBSHomecoming@gmail.com.

Save the Date: Diocesan Men’s Conference April 1

Men of the Diocese of Harrisburg – Please save the date of April 1, 2017 for the Diocesan Men’s Conference at Bishop McDevitt High School, Harrisburg. The theme is, “Fools for Christ: Men Called to Glorify God through His Catholic Church.” Keynote Speaker is world-renowned Catholic author and speaker, Dr. Peter Kreeft from Boston College. His keynote is, “Seven Reasons Why Everyone Should be Catholic.” Bishop Ronald W. Gainer is Principal Celebrant and Homilist for Mass, and will also be presenting two workshops on St. Thomas More as a Model for Conscience Formation. The Conference will also include:

  • 30+ workshop choices over three sessions
  • Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament with the Rosary and Benediction
  • 20+ Priests available for Confession
  • good music, food, and fellowship

Last year, we had 925 men who attended this event. This year we are hoping for 1,000 men. Registration materials are coming soon to your parish. Please join us, and invite a friend or three to come with you!

Box Tops for Education

St. Margaret Mary School collects Box Tops for Education. Each box top is worth 10¢ to the school. Many cereals, food storage, and dairy products carry them – view the full list at boxtops4education.com. To submit your box tops, simply place them in an envelope and drop in the box in the narthex, or place it in the collection basket.Thank you for your help!

World Day of the Sick

The Most Rev. Ronald W. Gainer will be celebrating Holy Mass commemorating the 25th World Day of the Sick at the Geisinger Medical Center’s Hood Memorial Building in Danville on Saturday, February 11 at noon. Come and join us! A light reception will be available following the Mass.

Bishop McDevitt Pops Concert

Bishop McDevitt High School is proud to present “A Night of the Arts: A Pops Concert and Art Exhibit” on February 18, 2017! Please join us at 6:30 pm for an art exhibit featuring our students’ various forms of visual art. The Pops Concert portion will begin at 7:30 pm. Our concert will feature student solo and group performances, as well as the Bishop McDevitt bands and choirs. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students (tickets for children 5 and under are free) and refreshments will be served. Hope to see you in Finestra Hall!

40 Days for Life, Harrisburg

From March 1 through April 9, you’re invited to join other Christians for 40 Days for Life – 40 days of prayer and fasting for an end to abortion. You’re also invited to stand and peacefully pray during a 40-day vigil in the public right-of- way outside Hillcrest Women’s Medical Center, 2709 North Front Street, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and also to help spread the word about this important community outreach. Encounter: A Retreat for Young Adults

Encounter, a retreat experience especially designed for college-aged young adults and recent graduates, will be held Saturday, March 25 from 9:30AM-4:00PM at the Cardinal Keeler Center, 4800 Union Deposit Road, Harrisburg. Lent is the perfect time to get away to refresh and renew ourselves while growing in our relationship with our Lord and with other young adults.

Catholic Medical Guild Retreat

The Harrisburg Diocesan Guild of the Catholic Medical Association invites all Catholic physicians, health care workers, and medical students to a Lenten Day of Reflection on Saturday March 25, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The retreat will take place in the Cardinal Keeler Center, 4800 Union Deposit Road, Harrisburg, PA 17111-3710. The Guest Speaker and Celebrant is the Most Reverend Ronald W. Gainer. The morning includes Mass, confessions, adoration, and light refreshments. A free will offering will be accepted.
